FINCH & CO.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 April 2026

This policy describes how Finch & Co. Tailors ("we", "our", "the workshop") collects and uses personal information in the normal course of running a bespoke tailoring business at 1024 Fort Street, Victoria, BC V8V 3K4.

What we collect

To serve you, we collect:

  • Contact information — name, email, phone number, and mailing address where you provide it.
  • Appointment and consultation notes — style preferences, occasion, timelines, budget ranges.
  • Body measurements — collected only where you have commissioned a garment or alteration. Retained securely in the workshop alongside your hand-drafted pattern.
  • Order history and pattern records — kept on file for life (or until you ask us to destroy them) so that repeat commissions skip the drafting stage.
  • Payment information — processed through Square or Interac e-Transfer. We do not store card details on our systems.
  • Website analytics — basic, anonymised traffic data (pages viewed, referral source) via a privacy-respecting analytics tool.

How we use it

  • To schedule and conduct consultations and fittings.
  • To draft, cut, and construct commissioned garments.
  • To contact you about appointment reminders, order status, and pickup.
  • To retain pattern records so repeat commissions are faster and more economical.
  • To respond to questions you send through the contact form.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
  • We do not subscribe you to marketing emails without explicit opt-in.
  • We do not send measurements or pattern records to overseas workshops. Every alteration and commission is produced at our Fort Street workshop.

Data retention

Contact records and pattern files are retained indefinitely so that future commissions are straightforward. You can request deletion of your records at any time by emailing hello@finchandco.ca. We will confirm deletion within five business days.

Your rights under PIPEDA

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you.
  • Access and review that information.
  • Correct inaccuracies.
  • Withdraw consent for the use of your information (subject to contractual obligations).
  • Request deletion.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@finchandco.ca or (250) 555-0134.

Cookies and website

Our website uses minimal first-party cookies for basic functionality. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Analytics, if enabled, are anonymised.

Security

Client records, measurements, and pattern files are stored at the Fort Street workshop. Digital records are kept on password-protected devices with regular backups. We do not store payment card details.

Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. Where a commission is placed on behalf of a minor (e.g., a graduation suit), the responsible adult is the account holder.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated occasionally. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. We will notify existing clients of material changes by email.
